MAN IN SNOOPY COSTUME IN JAIL BREAK IN
The gazette can reveal that Island Police have arrested two men after they attempted to break into the Albany site of HMP Isle of Wight, while carrying what appeared to be a firearm and dressed up as the canine hero of the Peanuts cartoons.
Prison sources said that a sidekick who wasn’t dressed as any kind of cartoon character also accompanied him. They had planned to storm the staff entrance of the jail and break out a family member. The family member was in fact located in Camphill Prison another part of the prison complex.
The gun tooting snoopy failed to gain access to the prison shortly after 10.30pm on the May 1st . The pair than resorted to throwing missiles and rocks at staff cars parked in the car park.
A window was also damaged by flying rocks.
A spokesman for Hampshire police confirmed that two males were arrested and have since been detained under the mental health act.
The spokesman’s went on to confirm that the gun was actually a water pistol.
Stunned staff members on duty were lost for words. One officer who was working at the time who did not wish to be named said” ‘It’s not every day you see a giant cartoon dog go on the rampage after trying to break into a prison.’
