Around 120 council staff are due to start counting votes from around the island. The verification of votes has been one of fastest on the island since 1971.

Staff will work through the night counting the ballot papers.

The result is expect to be given by the returning officer the high sheriff for the Island Peter Kingston at around 4am this morning.(Friday May 6)

The gazette can reveal that the current island’s MP Andrew Turner is at home in bed asleep and has yet to show up at the count as he has been up since 5am. An other missing face is Lib Den Jill Wareham who has yet to show up
