Traffic through Sandown came to a standstill this afternoon after a car hit a wall.
Police were forced to close off Fitzroy Street after the Blue Peugeot 106 hit the wall after being in collision with a Red VW Golf just after 4.30pm
Neighbours in the road reported hearing a loud crash as the blue Peugeot smashed into a garden wall.
The driver was helped from the vehicle and given emergency first aid before being strapped to a spinal board.
A young man in his twenties from the blue Peugeot and a woman from the red Volkswagen were treated at the scene in the car park of the Malvern Hotel by paramedics and taken to St Mary’s hospital.
Fire crews from IW Fire Service attended the scene and made the vehicles safe and stopped fuel from leaking into storm drainage.
Police officers from Shanklin Road Policing unit also attended to try and piece together how the collision had occurred.
