MAN HIT ON CROSSING IN RYDE
Emergency services were called to the junction of Pellhurst Road and Queens Road this morning, Saturday October 23, just after 12:30 after a man was struck on the pedestrian crossing by a car.
The unnamed man in his twenties was struck by a blue Ford Focus as he used the crossing.
Police closed one lane of Queens Road whilst Paramedics from IW Ambulance Service treated the man for a suspected broken leg, immobilising his leg with an air filled splint.
The man was taken by Ambulance to St Mary’s Hospital in Newport for further treatment.
A Hampshire and IW Police Spokesman said, “We were called to a road traffic collision involving one vehicle and a pedestrian shortly after 12.30 today.
“Officers attended from the Shanklin Roads Policing Unit (RPU) and have launched an investigation into how the collision happened.” The spokesman went on to say that no one had been arrested.
