WINTER WEATHER ANNOUNCEMENTS FROM HOSPITAL

The Hospital has issued these Winter Weather Announcements for Patients

Patients and visitors to the hospital are advised to only travel to the hospital if it is safe to do so.

Outpatients appointments for today, Thursday December 2, are cancelled and your appointment it will be automatically rearranged.

If you are in any doubt as to whether for medical reasons you need to attend your appointment please phone the number on your appointment letter.

All community clinics are cancelled today, Thursday December 2 and your appointment will be automatically rearranged.

Scheduled Operations / Surgery ?Day case surgery today, Thursday December 2, is cancelled. ?Decisions about in-patient surgery are being made on a case by case basis.

Information for Staff: ?The Island NHS Snow Coordination Centre has been activated. Staff should make every effort to get to work unless it is unsafe to do so. ?Further advice for staff can be found at www.iow.nhs.uk/staff

Phase 3 Cardiac Rehabilitation Class: This class, which was due to be held at the Riverside Centre on the afternoon of Thursday December 2, is cancelled. Please be advised that the LEO course taking place at the New Holmwood Hotel Cowes has been cancelled today. Could the manager please contact the staff who were taking part to let them know. Liz Nials will keep everyone update later today or tomorrow.

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit: ?The formal opening of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, scheduled for the afternoon of Thursday December 2, has been postponed.

GP Practices – 2 December 2010

Argyll House Ryde - Open, have one GP, may close from 5pm
Beechgrove Brading - The Lake Surgery is open this morning until 1pm with a receptionist and a HCA but no Doctor.
Brading - Open all day with one Doctor, a nurse and a reception team - offering an emergency service only today
Brighstone / Niton - Surgery open but only admin staff at surgery
Brookside - Running a normal surgery but cancelling extended surgery tonight
Carisbrooke Health Centre - Open as normal but visits limited
Cowes Medical Centre - Open, running as normal, restricted car parking
East Cowes - Open as normal at present, 3 GPs, 2 Nurses and sufficient admin
Esplanade Ryde - Open – 2 doctors
Garfield Road Open - 1 GP, 3 reception staff but no nurses, plan to close early and switch phones over to on-call earlier than usual (Usually this is from 6.30pm)
Grove House Ventnor Open, one GP, no nursing staff, no pharmacist in the area, service should run until 6.30pm (which is when Beacon take over)
Medina Healthcare, Newport - Open, GPs and admin staff but no nurses, unsure if they will be open all day
Wootton practice to close by midday, Practice Manager arranging GP appts
Pyle Street Running a normal this morning AM with emergencies this PM, no extended hours
Sandown Open, minor ops are going ahead whilst Drs are in the surgery
Shanklin Open - GPs, Nurses and admin staff
St Helens Open, running as normal
Tower House Ryde - Open – Drs, Nurses and Receptionists, no Physiotherapist
Ventnor Medical Centre - Two GPs, admin staff but no nurses
