The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance crew were called to the assistance of a Ryde man who suffered a heart attack this morning (Sunday).
The crew responded to the call and with the help of Hampshire and Isle of Wight Police, who closed St John’s Road, Ryde, the Pilot of the helicopter landed the machine on the central white lines.
The helicopter’s medical team and critical care paramedic worked with the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service to provide full advanced life support treatment to the patient, who had suffered a previous medical emergency and was receiving treatment at a Ryde care home.
The man was transported to St Mary’s Hospital, Newport in a road ambulance where his condition on arrival was critical.
The callout came at about 10.30am this morning (Sunday March 13). The helicopter was on the ground for approximately 20 minutes.
