ONLY ONE IN THE BED AS WOMAN LET OFF

A woman has escaped facing court after the prosecution against her was dropped, in the conclusion of a story that ‘The Gazette’ exclusively broke last year.

Emma Martin, 23, was centre of attention at Culver Parade Beach on June 23 2010, as hundreds of people watched in disgust as she performed gross sexual acts in front of families and children with 28-year-old Niki Lawrence.

The pair were arrested by Island police and later charged with outraging public decency by performing simulated sex acts.

Now, after a number of no-appearances at the Island’s magistrates’ court, Martin of Northern Ireland has had the case against her dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service, deeming it as ‘not in the public interest’.

The decision was taken after it was established that Ms Martin would need to be arrested in her home town and transported to the Island, which would cost the tax payer thousands.

Magistrates at Newport, Isle of Wight dismissed the charge against Ms Martin following the decision by the CPS; however they did successfully prosecute Mr Lawrence with same charge of outraging public decency by performing simulated sex acts.

Mr Lawrence received a 12-month community order which included 200 hours of unpaid work. In addition, he was ordered to pay £80 in costs.
