Speaking exclusively to the Gazette, Jayne’s husband of three weeks, a Big Issue seller from Shanklin, said: “I met Jayne four years ago when she came to the Island for a hip replacement. I first found out she had died when someone called me from the property to say she had stopped breathing at about one o’clock this morning and paramedics were battling to revive her.
“Jayne is my world I feel so lost with out her. She has three children who live who are 11,13 and 18 who live in Weston-super-Mare in the West Country. We have been together as a couple since January this year. We had planned to move in together, that was why she was going over to Ryde to get her stuff. We had just got a place to live in Shanklin. I have spent the morning down at the mortuary just holding Jayne and trying to wake her up.”
Close to tears Jayne’s husband explained that they had spent the winter in Brighstone woods getting Jayne clean from a her heroin addiction.
“ I used to plait her hair every morning, so this morning when I went to see her for second time I put a little plait in her hair and gave her a kiss on the cheek.
She was just lying on the slab and was very cold. I just wanted her to wake up. “
A post mortem is due to take place at on Thursday June 24. Three people who were being quizzed by detectives, have been released on bail.
