A 45-year-old motorcyclist is this evening fighting for his life at the Island’s St Mary’s Hospital in Newport after the machine he was riding crashed into the side of car.
The collision happened shortly after 5.15pm this evening (Wednesday March 16) on the Middle Road, Calbourne.
‘The Gazette’ can exclusively reveal from a hospital source that the biker is bleeding internally and doctors are currently fighting to stop the internal bleed.
A passing care worker stopped at the scene outside The Sun Inn, Calbourne and rendered first aid on the injured biker, after alerting the emergency services.
Police have closed the road and are conducting an investigation into the cause of the collision. Officers from Shanklin’s Roads Policing Unit are currently collecting evidence from the scene.
Police have setup diversions in the area and vehicles are being diverted via Forest Road.
