In an exclusive interview with ‘The Gazette’, 9-year-old Kacey Knight tells of the dramatic scenes witnessed on board a coach that rolled backwards down a hill, mounting the pavement, destroying a bus shelter and then becoming wedged in amongst a row of trees.
Brave Kacey said: “We were going to Ryde as we have swimming lessons every Tuesday. I was sat near the middle of the coach as we went up the hill and it started to roll backwards.
“Everyone started to cry. There was a big bang and the coach stopped in the trees.
“I saw one of my friend’s head rocking around. She was taken to hospital.
“I’ve never experienced anything like this before. I was so scared”.
Kacey described the driver as collapsing over the wheel prior to the coach rolling backwards.
