HOVERWORK IN NEW INTERNATIONAL DEALS

Griffon Hoverwork has announced two new international deals with both the Swedish and Korean coastguards.

A new craft has been designed for the Swedish Coastguard, the 2450TD. The craft is based on the popular 2400TD design but as the Sweidsh Coastguard wanted to transport their snowmobiles, the dimensions and payload of the craft have been increased.

The Swedish Coastguard has been a loyal Griffon Hoverwork customer since it purchased its first Griffon 2000TD in 1992. It now has three craft operating in Sweden and the 2450TD will be a vital new addition to the fleet.

The Swedish craft has been adapted to operate in sub-zero temperatures and has a new, improved skirt design to help ice navigation and operation. It will travel over the snow and ice then allow the crew to deploy the snowmobiles where needed. This capability is essential for a Coastguard that operates in a subarctic climate with short, mild summers and long, cold, snowy winters.

In another deal, it has been an
nounced that after an international tender, Griffon Hoverwork are to supply a Griffon 8000TD for patrol duties along the Korean border.

The Korean Coastguard is one of the most experienced hovercraft operators in the World, having owned 4 x Griffon 470TD and 2 x Griffon 8000TDs for several years. These craft brought huge benefits to the Coastguard’s capabilities, allowing it to patrol shallow water, sand banks and mudflats that could not be reached with conventional boats.

The new Griffon 8000TD will also prove to be a vital asset to the current fleet – it has also been specially designed to cope with the extreme temperatures that can affect the country.
The craft will be based at Incheon, an area that not only has shallow water but suffers from extreme tides, making it ideal hovercraft territory.

By taking the most direct route possible and travelling at high speed, it will enable the Coastguard to police the borders effectively. It will also be used for search and rescue capabilities at the Incheon International airport.
