Three marine engineers were left red faced and having to seek help when their brand new 25ft speedboat developed engine trouble this evening (Saturday).
When the trio called up Solent Coastguards for assistance they were off Egypt Point, Cowes, but by the time Cowes RNLI lifeboat had found them, their boat had drifted eastwards to near Prince Consort Buoy.
The luxury red and white speedboat, which had set out from Hamble, was towed to Shepards Wharf Marina in Cowes by the lifeboat, helmed by Simon Hawkins.
A Force 3 north-easterly was blowing at the time.
All crews are back safely on dry land.
