A body found on a Totland beach on Friday is believed to be that of missing Christchurch man David Silvery, 63, who disappeared from his Barton home, in Dorset, nearly five months ago.

Dorset Police issued an south coast appeal and David’s wife Jackie also made a personal plea for David to get in contact, after he vanished from their marital home without trace.

David was last seen on January 29 this year, taking a walk near to the family home near Christchurch.

The body was recovered on Friday evening. The IW coroner has been informed of the find.

Police also confirmed that Mr Silvery’s partner Jackie has also been advised.
