FIRE AT ISLAND SCRAPYARD
Tractor destroyed at Island scrapyard.
An investigation was under way today following the huge blaze at Buntshill Scrapyard near Porchfield in the early hours of this morning (Sunday July 11).
Firefighters were called at around 2am and tackled the blaze as it spread across the yard.
Fourteen firefighters from Newport and a water carrier from Ryde dealt with the blaze that had spread to a tractor and nearby woodland.
It was feared that gas cylinders were involved in the fire.
It took firefighters two and half hours to bring the fire under control. No-one was hurt in the blaze.
