THREE fire appliances from Ryde and Newport and a fire service Land Rover are currently in attendance at Ryde Pier where a fire has broken out.

The pier has been cordoned off and the fire fighters are assessing the situation. One of the Victorian shelters about half way down the pier is thought to have caught fire, but it is likely that the fire has already been extinguished.
