THE ISLE OF WIGHT WALKING FESTIVAL 2010
With around two hundred and fifty guided walks held over sixteen days, the Isle of Wight Walking Festival is a fantastic outdoor event that attracts around 15,000 visitors per year.
Walks range from morning, afternoon and evening ambles to strenuous long-distance walks for experienced ramblers. Look out for ancient monuments, view some outstanding natural scenery, learn about the fascinating wildlife, history and landscape, or just walk and talk while enjoying the Isle of Wight as it bursts into spring.
And of particular interested to pop aficionados will be a walk dedicated to remembering and celebrating the massive Isle of Wight Festivals of bygone years.
Hendrix in the West Wight (1970-2010) is a 3-mile, circular walk from the Hendrix Garden at Dimbola Lodge, Freshwater Bay, to the site of the 1970 Isle of Wight Festival where Keith Moon, Jim Morrison and the legendary Jimi Hendrix all featured in the greatest line-up ever assembled. This walk takes place on Friday 14th May and includes a visit to the permanent festival exhibition at Dimbola (www.dimbola.co.uk).

I’m Jono_not_Bono and I’m going to run ‘Walk the Wight’ which is a nice 26.5 mile stretch for charity.
I have decided that I need to get really fit again (Its taken me 8 whole years since leaving the Army to demolish my fitness to thy levels of a slob haha) and in doing so I then thought about ‘Walk the Wight’.
‘Walk the Wight’ is a charity walk that raises money for Earl Mountbatten Hospice for Patient Care so it is for a good cause and this year its held on Sunday May 16th of which I am going to RUN the 26.5 miles. Its a marathon in length and I hope to get as many of you lovely people to sponsor me. Like I’ve just said, its for a really good cause and I need a deadline to work to in order to become super fit again so this is like ‘killing 2 birds with 1 stone’
I have set up this page for the convenience of sponsoring me and I hope you do
