GAS LEAK AT NURSING HOME IN RYDE
Three fire appliances from Ryde and Newport responded to a gas leak at a residential nursing home in Ryde.
Fire crews dealt with a small fire and a gas leak in an industrial tumble dryer at the Northfield Nursing home, just after 6.20am this morning Wednesday (May 5)
Nursing staff alerted the fire service after a they spotted smoke billowing from the laundry room within the 24 bedded home..
Fire Crews using a thermal imaging camera and small tools dealt with the gas leak by isolating the supply of gas and electricity.
A spokesman for IW Fire service said:
“No one was evacuated from the home. We attended and isolated the supply. We used the thermal imaging camera to check for hot spots within the area as a precaution.”
