INDOOR ROW RAISES MONEY FOR JUNIOR EQUIPMENT

Ryde Rowing Club’s junior squad, sponsored by Wightlink Ferries completed an “Indoor” Round the Island Row on Good Friday to raise funds for some much needed junior equipment.

Using a Concept2 indoor rowing machine set up in the main lounge of their Appley Park clubhouse they completed the 52.2 miles that constitutes a round-the-island row in a time of 6 hours, 57 minutes and 25 second.

The team, consisting of junior squad members Bryony Reeve, Max Reeve, Holly Evans, Leona Fisk, Sam Corney, Dale Buckett, Charlie Gedling, Harvey Kirkby, Mike Woodward and Christian Lacey took in turns to row 1,000m until the distance was completed.

They were supported during the day by family, club members and members of the public who helped them raise over £500 which will be used to improve the junior facilities and equipment at the clubhouse.
