Cowes Sports beat the weather and Bournemouth Poppies to give the club a much-needed boost to their Sydenhams Wessex Premier League campaign.

Gareth Bricknall and Joe Butcher scored the goals to earn Sports the points, despite a late rally from the Poppies which saw them score a consolation 10 minutes from time.

Sports were the only leading Island side to survive the soggy conditions as Newport, Brading Town and East Cowes Vics all had their games called off due to waterlogged pitches.
